Lady Cajuns Hosting “meet The Team” Session Saturday

Fans are invited to get a sneak peek of the upcoming 2004 season

LOUISIANA Ls. – Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns softball program will hold its annual “Meet the Team Day” on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Ragin’ Cajuns Softball Park. The event is free and open to all fans.

Fans will get a chance to view the 2004 squad in live game situations as an intrasquad scrimmage will be incorporated into a practice which begins at 10 a.m and lasts until Noon.

Immediately after the scrimmage fans are invited to join the team for hamburgers, autographs, games and more from Noon – 1:30 p.m.

The day’s festivities will wrap up at the Ragin’ Cajuns football game versus Idaho which begins at 4 p.m. At halftime of the game the 2003 Sun Belt Conference champion and Women’s College World Series participant will be honored.

Fans are being offered a ½ price football ticket in the Ragin’ Cajuns Softball section. To purchase a ticket for the softball section, please call the Cajundome Ticket Office at 265-2100.

The 2004 Ragin’ Cajuns softball roster features 11 returning players from last season which includes six position starters and two starting pitchers. Six newcomers and one redshirt freshman round of the rest of the roster.

The returning players for 2004 includes: seniors Jill Robertson (shortstop) and Tiffany Grayson (center field); juniors Crystal George (left field), Tiffany Hebert (second base), Brooke Mitchell (pitcher) and Joy Webre (catcher); and sophomores Brittany Bryant (second base), Ashley Evans (first base/outfield), Danyele Gomez (third base), Leslie Pierce (catcher/first base) and Afton Thoms (pitcher).

The new faces will be: redshirt freshman Michelle Bergeaux (outfield) and freshmen Lacey Bertucci (first base), Heather Bobbitt (pitcher), Desi Chatman (outfield), Christine Collins (infield), Hillary Guidry (outfield) and Holly Tankersley (pitcher).
