https://www.bizjournals.com/sananton...-poaching.htmlIn an era when players are benefitting from name, image and likeness deals and an ever-spinning transfer portal, some universities are also having to deal with out-of-bounds recruiting.
On Dec. 19, three days after UTSA lost its Cure Bowl matchup against Troy, Traylor tweeted: “Dear @NCAAFootball how does @UTSAFTBL report Power 5 Schools who are trying to poach our young talent? How much evidence do we really need to make this not be a part of our game?”
It was a not-so-subtle jab at a governing body that has looked the other way too many times, creating an environment where the gap between the blue-blood universities with the wealthiest donors and everyone else grows wider by the day.
What Traylor is suggesting is essentially tampering, an NCAA violation. But where are its police? Even in the NFL there are penalties handed down to teams that cross the line.
The concern among Traylor and others, even some among the Power 5 ranks, is that the NCAA simply looks the other way.
It’s a problem Traylor said is “out of control.”
