I trust his number crunching as well. I was going by memory when I said Samford had a winning record but I had not checked in a couple of weeks. I know their schedule has been challenging. By the same token, East Tennessee had a losing record last time I checked. They have had injuries but must have people back now. They played LSU to the wire a few days ago. As far as SMU goes, disappointment of losing to the Cajuns may have impacted the follow up games. The loss last second loss to Hawaii adds to their rough season. No one really knows how strong opponents will be in this day of rapid roster turnover. We will begin to see how prepared Cajuns are for conference play starting Thursday.
I did not watch the Texas game, but I have watched Chris Beard teams at Little Rock and at Texas Tech. They play defense, and their half court offense is patient, disciplined, has excellent spacing, excellent ball movement and excellent play away from the ball. In other words, everything that Bob Marlin teams don't have.
I listened to the Texas game. One difference from the Beard teams of the past was they shot the three ball early in the shot clock and in transition as well. I don’t know if that had anything to do with Beard being suspended and someone else in charge.
I think we had trouble setting our defense because of all the pressured shots we were forced to take. When that happens, floor balance is off as you try to get back on defense.
It was Texas A&M Commerce but Marcus Carr hit 10 3-pointers Tuesday.
Perhaps Texas is good at shooting 3s
