Jersey Mike's....hands down best sandwiches. Everything cut fresh right in front of you and cooked if you're getting a hot sub. I heard we're finally going to get one near Costco.

    Anything is better than subway

Maybe if they were tipped better, the product and service would be better. Not a chance with some of the cheap posters on this board . . .

We are not wealthy people, but yeah, Not only might we leave a buck in the tip jar, we also round up to the dollar to contribute to the establishments scholarship fund.

Hell, 45,000 people gave Donald Trump $100 a piece for a digital playing card.

He sold out in one day and made $4.5 million

    I guess we’re all suckers

I am not taking about a tip jar. I am talking about paying with a debit card and the credit card machine prompting you to tip.

I always tip at Subway. They are standing there all day having to deal with people trying to be comedians.

The same person (or two) takes the order, makes the order, packages the order, delivers the order.

Just because they don't have to walk it to your table is not enough reason not to tip.

Firehouse Subs is the bomb! Jimmy John’s good too. Jersey Mike’s serves Pepsi, so I don’t go there.

I personally think it is wrong for “sandwich artists” to expect a tip at Subway. It’s a counter-service restaurant, meaning that you pay for your food before you get the opportunity to taste it. Nobody brings it to your table. Furthermore, Subway offers a made-to-order sandwich to all of its guests. You are not asking for some extra or additional service by getting what you want on the sub. Unlimited toppings and sauces - to the practical limit of what can fit on the sandwich. If you want extra meat or extra cheese, you pay a premium. If you don’t want the cheese which is included, you don’t get a rebate. Toasted or untoasted? Cut in two or three or four? Eat-in or to go? All of those options are included at no cost. So when your sandwich is prepared to order, exactly as advertised, why should you tip? This is the minimum expected.

Do you also tip medical professionals and the UPS driver? What about Coach Marlin and Des? What about lawyers?

The reason I tip in restaurants is that we are being served at the table by someone who checks on us regularly to see if the food is good, if we need anything else, and cleans after us after we leave. This is not the case at fast food joints, where you take your food to the table yourself and you clean after yourself at the end of the meal. I hate to see tip jars in coffee places and other joints where you pick up your order at the counter. There is no “above and beyond”. Folks should stop (or not even start) tipping in fast food places, it’s creating the false impression that everyone deserves a tip even if they don’t really do anything special.
and more importantly they are likely being paid a higher wage at subway (at least fed min wage) than the so called “tip wage” at a restaurant

jimmy johns is amazing, it was ready before i even got from menu to window and no cars were ahead of me. i really prefer them having “designed” sandwiches they seem to be more of a sandwich artist than subway…. i have always hated subway, i dont care to hear what every tom dick and harry ahead of me want on their sandwich. leave it to the experts such as j.j.

Restaurants pay around $2.13 per hours plus tips. I asked the girl at Subway what is the starting pay and she said $12 per hour.
