It won't be very long that it won't really matter who coaches your team. It will only matter which teams have the most money to buy the best players. It's already that way at the very top of the food chain. But a bottom feeder will be able to quickly move toward the top if the money is there, regardless of who the Coach is. How would coaches feel if the schools would start cutting coaches salaries from 6-7-8 or 9 million a year down to about 1 or 2 million a year and start putting that saved money into NIL deals instead? The poo poo would hit the fan and then I bet you would hear many more screaming for change.

Any chance our coaches are still recruiting the same level of players they were in the past, only now they are only offering the ones they feel are truly commited to playing for the Cajuns? I mean think about it; if a player is really going to go with the team that offers him the "best deal", why continue to spend time and effort on him. This is part of developing the culture. Even doing so, players are still being swayed away by bigger programs and some probably always will be.

Recruiting is a tough game; NONE of us really know what is being done in the process.

I remember them all because I covered them. To my previous point yesterday, it's about projection and development at this level. If you can occasionally steal one with great offers like Torrence that's a win. But the majority of athletes signed are projections with certain traits.

Im now curious, what is your actual concern that your raising?
This current class has an equal to or higher average player rating vs the last 4 years.
This class has a couple top-end players from a rating perspective as the last couple years.

I know we had a couple of high rated players de-commit and that may be concerning to you? or a couple of players the staff feel are diamonds in the ruff with fewer offers, maybe thats concerning to you? what am i missing with this debate as it relates to this recruiting class compared to 2019-2021 classes?

The avg ranking only accounts for the commits that have a ranking. So, if we have 5 commits with a ranking and 10 without, the avg comes from the 5. We have some good guys at the top. Really bummed about the guys who decommitted, but that's just how it goes.

No one is saying lower ranked guys never make it. They often do. Some of those guys listed were 2 and 3 stars. There's nothing wrong with taking a couple shots like that every class. Again, my point from the beginning was that it's concerning that 2/3 of the list were zero stars. 2/3!
