It had been said that Leach didn't have a chance because someone or some few had an predetermined hiring agenda that went beyond who would be the best XandO coach.

Both were predetermined hires (2021 much better) but if you know the "boring" excuse to be a farce, the 'why not' excuses of 2021 would have made the Mike Leach boring excuse seem as plausible as someone claiming Bob Marlin was hired because of his energetic interviews.

No. Blakeney won the job, and it was an easy choice. Only, before he could collect his prize, it was stolen and given to toothpick by Doc A.

The time between 1997, when Nelson was told to run a program with nothing, to 2002, when Bustle was hired, was a purposeful, self imposed, virtual death penalty.

It was the most heinous act by any university president we've ever had.
