Yep, them and yahoo sports were in the same boat. Yahoo came around earlier this year I think. Happy to see the AP finally get it right.

Louisiana-Lafayette is still our Athletic “style” for the AP.org American Press

Yes, a few articles have recently been written as Louisiana but the majority still follow our “style”

Sad thing is the USA Today newspaper editors want to reference our Athletic name as Louisiana but they strictly have to follow the AP style

If you go to AP news.com under sports our splash page is The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.

Three years ago they offered the following to get our style changed:

“you can reach out to the sports editor if he'd like to request a change in our style.

The global sports editor was unwilling to change our style due to “concerns about his readers confusing us with LSU and also his concerns about a legal name issue within the State of Louisiana”. This was in 2019 not sure about today.

Other Universities get their branding wish for Athletics but the AP is a long hard holdout for us.

I know our sports information directors routinely ask the AP folks for help with this, but they have to follow the style.

Maybe one day, it will be changed to the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns.

If so, then The USA Today newspaper and all AP articles would hopefully change as well.

Defense was great in the second half. We really controlled the game from the tip, but it was great basketball to watch in the first.

Side note. Watching SMU TCU now. I didn’t realize SMU had GState’s former coach. We beat him as long as he’s not a panther?

Yet, this team is still not good defensively. They sit at the bottom of the SBC. They will need to get better if they want to remain at the top of the league.
