I believe with the win we have tied uno all time at their place 17 - 17 or something similar.

Samford this weekend will be an interesting test. I watched them over the weekend play a pretty good UCF team. UCF won the game but it was close.

Samford lives and does by the 3. They shoot 28 a game. It is actually 42% of their shots. They do not shoot a high percentage, less than 32% but they do jack it up allot.

They have had a weird season. They have played 4 non d1 schools they are 3-1 in those games, losing to Tennessee southern. They have beaten 2 swac schools and a big win over valpo. Their 3 d1 losses have been to la tech, DePaul and UCF all by a total of 11 points.

They are never out of any game because they shoot so many 3 pointers. They shoot on average close to 10 more a game than the Cajuns.

Samford is 6-4 but their 4 losses are a combined 13 points.

I suspect we will win but our perimeter defense needs to be good, really good Saturday.

Think yall meant tony harris. man that cat could ball. i was at one game when he skyed for a rebound in the lane in traffic, dribbled all the way down the court and dunked on like the whole team forcefully. i was like WOW. think the whole dome let out a wow. lol.

A few years later they had another guard that was pretty good named Gerald Williams I think. He hit a buzzer beater from the free throw line against us in lakefront one year. I was actually a ball boy sitting behind the USL bench and I swear I’ve never heard a crowd that loud before in my life. Not sure if it was sold out but there were at least 8k. May as well been 80k with how loud that place used to be.

That was one of most unique games I have ever attended. May have set a record for non coach technicals. Officials had trouble controlling game from the start. Pretty wild affair. Good to win when we did not play our best. Just like I said on the podcast, it will always be tough there regardless of team abilities. Has been that way since the 80’s. Game did show we miss Joe Charles. He is our best defensive player in many ways, has a high basketball IQ, and can knock down tough shots. Hopefully he can avoid the injury bug that seems to have gotten him going forward.

Will be hard to beat teams in conference if Richards continues to give us NOTHING. We have no other big for when Brown gets in foul trouble.

As long as he can set picks, rebound and defend we can hopefully adapt when JB is out and use him more for a utility player rather than a scorer. But yeah, the lack of front court depth is concerning.

I’m not as much concerned by his limited scoring ability as his failure to defend without fouling. If he gets us that and 15 minutes spelling Brown and Lewis.

He fouled out in 9 minutes with no points or rebounds. That’s about as bad as it gets.

What’s disappointing is he had just come off 2 decent games. 7 points and 5 boards against drake and 9 points and 5 rebounds vs Loyola in about the same playing time.

Also is an extreme hot head and I am constantly waiting for the technical. You can see how much the other players have to hold him back and get him to run up the court without talking to the refs.

He really does need to learn some discipline if he wants to get better. I like his passion but it needs to be better funneled.
