I heard the person responsible for tracking academics left with CBN and apparently wasn't taking care of biz leading up tho his departure.

So we had no backup plan when that person left?

He was one of those not academically eligible this season. He's not returning. Wiser played in 4 games before they found out he was not eligible, so he is suspended for the first 4 games next season.

Is this something that could result in vacated victories?

No, it was reported and he will be suspended for the 4 games he played at the beginning of next season.

Sorry Rick they dropped the ball on this big time. No players at UL should fall thru the cracks when it comes to being eligible to play. This is not a mistake that they can afford to make.

Maybe they DID know. Could've been a thing where they made the decision to play him because they didn't have the capable bodies. Kick the can down the road and pay the penalty next year.

This, and they knew much earlier in the fall that they were leaving for Florida

Call the NCAA. Likely a violation. Institutional control. Or maybe it was just a screw up. Like prerequisites get screwed up with everyday students. Lots of work goes into not messing up but transfers are not trivial when dealing with transcripts. I know personally. Cost me a summer school when I thought I was graduating in spring.

The last time something sort of similar to this happening (Orien Greene) they transferred the Athletic Director Nelson Schexnayder, to Martin Hall and gave him a new title. They then transfered David Walker from Martin Hall to Reinhart Drive and made him Athletic Director.
