Thread: Poor Coaches

    Default Poor Coaches

I hear a lot of criticism of Des, even (rarely!) read it here.

So see if you can name these head coaches from their records, and where they coached:

    Coach 'Y'
    1962: 7-4
    1963: 2-8
    1964: 2-6
    1965: 4-5
    1966: 8-2 (probation)

    Coach 'P'
    1964: 6-4
    1965: 5-5
    1966: 5-5
    1967: 8-2-1

    Coach 'H'
    1969: 3-7
    1970: 5-7
    1971: 5-6
    Hired to another program
    1972: 8-3-1

    Coach 'B'
    1987: 2-9
    1988: 3-8
    1989: 6-4-1
    1990: 6-5
    1991: 5-6
    1992: 2-8-1
    1993: 9-3

    Coach 'S'
    1989: 1-10
    1990: 5-6
    1991: 7-4
    1992: 5-6
    1993: 9-2-1

    Coach 'N'
    1995: 6-5-1
    1996: 6-6
    1997: 7-5
    1998: 6-6
    1999: 10-2

    B- Beamer

Alex, I’ll take “rare college coaches that succeeded as the hometown hero” for 200.

  7. Default Re: Poor Coaches

Alex, I’ll take “moving the goal posts” for $1000.

At least he was until he fired Christofel and Pry after a 6-win season.

Did any of them inherit a top 25 program that had just won 13 games the previous year?

The only Top 25 program Dez inherited was in NOLA. The 2021 team is an average football team. That is exactly who we are and what Dez inherited.

I will say this, we lost way more toss up games than years past. ULM, Rice, South and Troy come to mind.

I’m just glad we did a well vetted national search last year just like we did when hiring Hud and Napier.

Always good to go through the process.

    Every top-25 team loses players.

It is still a huge advantage to have been ranked the year before, in both planning and recruiting.
