UL Football 6 Wins Required to Go to a Bowl

wow, if the covid cucks had been stuck at five wins they would have been first ever sunbelt approved bowl eligibility waiver but with an * they would only be able to use waiver at their own conway bowl

North Texas got a waiver in the first New Orleans Bowl.

Not a single Sunbelt school was eligible.

Thanks, good point. But in the other thread i gave a breakdown of waivers and said since 2011. My bad for not repeating that in this other thread.

Ironically that makes three waivers for UNt, although the other two are in CUSA, more than most conferences… they must have some friends in high places

    upon further review:
    A. In 2001 the term Football Bowl Subdivision did not exist yet
    B. A waiver was not required: “They were the Sun Belt Conference co-champions (5–1 in conference), which gave them bowl eligibility despite having an overall losing record (5–6).”

    They needed a waiver.

Seems odd to approve a waiver in order to leave the other co-champ MTSU home with an 8-3 record,
It seems the shift to FBS occurred in 2006, and thats when “bowl eligibility” rules were outlined and/or made more robust. Prior to that the bowl tie in was a stronger bond

"The Mean Green (5-6), which last played in the postseason in the 1959 Sun Bowl, already had wrapped up the Sun Belt Conference title and the automatic bowl berth before losing to Troy State in their season finale. North Texas became the first team to take advantage of an NCAA waiver that allows a conference champion to play in a bowl game without the mandated six victories."

I believe that VO, myself and several other Cajun fans went to the game to support the SBC champ.

Interesting. Thanks for update. So one source says it is a rule, another source says it is called a waiver. Regardless it was a waiver that was in place for all conference champions, no matter what. (Almost like they dont know how to define the word) Therefore the school does not have to individually apply for such waiver nor await a decision from the ncaa. And also it was still well before 2011.

sunbelt still got shafted by having the worse team in the bowl.

Do wins by forfeit count towards the six?
