It’s unfortunate but in addition to keeping those that are good we have to release those not showing lots of progress. The players brought this on themselves to facilitate about 20% of players at most. Probably more like 10%.
Yes, but not if it comes down to money. TCU isn't losing but they have 3 former starters sitting out because they want to keep their eligibility for more NIL money. This is why as someone mentioned, development of HS players underneath will still decide the success of this program going forward.
Fans believe the Transfer Portal is a quick fix at our level, it's not going to help us on the OL. The best OL and DL will be picked off the top with NIL money. The rest that remain will be projects or not any good. We can find good athletes at DB, LB, WR and RB in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Good OL and DL are hard to recruit at the G5 level. Our best options are JC and HS signees. How well we develop OL and DL will decide how successful this program will be moving forward.

The math has changed.
Whatever # schollies we were reserving for OL/DL needs to be increased by a couple on both sides. We've got to sign more.
Also, we must change the math on OL/DL coaching salaries. We have got to be out front on this to keep ourselves near the top of the league.
We will need to recruit out of HS, develop as freshmen and sophomores and plan on losing them to schools who can pay more. That is the landscape we are playing in.
