Thread: Attendance!?

  1. Default Re: Attendance!?

LSU, purple and gold, Tigers brand markets itself. Anyone who is lazy and wants immediate brand associated with what they are doing just grab on to the LSU brand, without thinking about it. This is a large part of what we are dealing with and other than to all do what we do to promote the Cajuns, I'm not sure what else it out there. It's not easy going against the mafia, even in your own town.

This! We should bring The Boudin Festival to Cajun Field.

If your friend group was at Cajun Field they probably would of went into the game!!

Maybe one day they will figure it out!

There has to be a way to put pressure on the administration!

As for attendance, I thought post pandemic, post championship season, we'd be averaging at least in mid 20's. So wrong. Its probably all the things we've previously written on this forum.... too many odd and mid-week kick off times, TV access, 'fan stadium experience', the schedule, inconsistent marketing, moving around the students, greeks, etc. And like it or not today's younger fan, even P5's, want to see the big games. We seldom have those 'must see' games in the SBC. IMO the upcoming Troy game is a must see conference game.

While the SBC has come a long way, the home schedule still does not inspire walk up fans to attend. There's a ceiling that comes with remaining in the SBC. Having said that, I'm grateful we're not in the crumbling CUSA.
I think we at least need to get ourselves up to the level of the rest of the SBC before we start discussing the ceiling the SBC is placing on our attendance.

    Have any changes been made?

I felt like attendance was pretty sparse?

I think any game day experience improvements are on hold until the new stadium is completed. They are banking on the new stadium bringing people in on its own. The admin has put a great deal of effort/money in the past to get people to games but has turned out not to be a good investment so whats the point anymore really?

Dont take any of this to be 100% facts, just my thoughts on it.

You are not wrong, but going into this season with a 13-game winning streak they had definitely leveled up.

Part of the problem was absolutely no public ticket drive WHILE leveled up.

A lot more people would be attending 4pm games if they had made their discretionary decisions and their tickets since July.

So our hard core is say 15K - we need another 10K-15K in the stands to get to 25K to 30K which is what the stadium capacity will be once the renovation is complete to have sell outs and drive up demand. Then that will be at the top of G5 football attendance again.
When you look at only getting another 10-15K it is a plausible thing to get done.
It can be done. There is hope.

Just to clarify when I mentioned getting to the level of the rest of the league I was referring to fan support not on field performance. As shown in my post earlier today, our attendance this past Saturday was 7k+ less than the average for the SBC on the week and that’s with 2 teams playing midweeks. The conference is not limiting us so much at this point as we are setting the conference back.

I definitely agree though that we are lacking a strong season ticket push.

Has anyone here ever seen a better promotional push by UL than the one done for the App State game in 2019 before or since? Imagine that kind of push to get people on board for an entire season.

People around here and in the state do not care period. I went to a restaurant in Scott after the game with Cajun gear. People asked me if the Cajuns won. Then everyone had to tell me that LSU won and what a great game it was. I smiled and said that’s great while it took every fiber in my being to not to tell them I don’t give a flip about LSU. It’s just the way it is.

I heard they even rushed the field afterward. How pathetic is that? UBR fans rushing the field after beating hotty totty. My my how the mighty have fallen.

71 games seems low. That’s only an average of 3 games a year starting in those time frames.

I know we’ve had some midweeks and maybe a couple 11:00 games but still seems low
