Feelings, not feel. Them are two different things.

That being said, I would have hoped we would have run with one guy and whomever that one was would have been the guy and if he wasn't then we could have tried the other one. But I will agree with what someone else on this board said, had BW not gotten the playing time he has this season already, he would not have played as well as he did on Wednesday. So while we can criticize CMD for the 2 QB system, it payed off vs Marshall. Had BW not played a snap all season and then came in off the bench for his first playing time, I think he would not been nearly as sharp as he was.

That is why you, me, BWK and everyone else on this board is not the HC of a FBS football team. These are hard decisions to make and we don't have to make them, thank goodness. But it is easy to criticize after the fact, because as they say Hindsight is always 20/20.
Correction Ragin Jay, the criticism was coming before the fact. And the criticism was warranted because the team wasn't progressing. It was regressing. ULM was the low point of the season. That was 4 games in. And the really low point of the season was the early second half before Ben finally had a chance to catch fire & get the team a couple of quick scores before Des F'd up his clock management because he just wanted a score now because he was scared his offense wasn't gonna score & didn't take the clock into consideration like he would have if he wasn't so worried about just scoring.

I like Mike & I want him to succeed. But I'm not gonna pretend every single move he makes is boy genius. He's a young coach learning as he goes. That doesn't grant him blanket immunity from criticism when he screws the pooch. And it damn sure doesn't grant him immunity when it comes to losing to one of the bottom ten teams in the whole freaking country which we had no excuse to lose to with one of the best defenses in the country. If we continue to ball out defensively the way we have so far this season, we can easily win every game on our schedule save the FSU game which is gonna be a hill to climb. If that happens we are all going to regret the 2 QB experiment that far into the season. Because that will be the game that will have cost us an opportunity to repeat as SBC champions.

And people need to quit this crap about equal talent. Chandler is a nice little QB That would have been a great recruit coming out of the Baldwin era when you had a hard time signing players. Ben is potentially a BIG time P-5 talent with a big arm & strong as a bull. The guy reminds me of another Ben that played for Miami of Ohio about 20 years ago. There is no comparing the upside on the one versus the upside on the other. And Mike well knows this. He just needed to see it in game action. If he can get that sorry excuse of a running game untracked with Ben as the QB & this defense, this team might not get to be ranked top 20. But it will be able to take on just about any team in this country & go toe to toe with them. And they will be the best team in this conference by far when this season is finished.

Chandlers first 2 drives against ulm is the most efficient this offense has looked this whole year. Pulling him completely changed the momentum of that game. Leave him in and he might have scored 4 times in a row rather than just 2 as he did. You never know.

Finally, where did the “feelings” thing come from . . .
When chandler was first announced as the starter at the end camp there was no plan for this 2 QB rotation. It is a direct result of Bens reaction to the news. The meeting was had just before the fan day celebration. Ben sat in his seat arms folded and did not engage with the fans or sign autographs for the kids. He just sat and pouted. It was after that reaction this 2 QB system came into place. I was there personally to see how he was acting. And a very good source with in the program who told me that is exactly what went down.

Evidently Desormeaux was following his coaching tree script.

    Way to Geaux Billy.
Anyway .... two local case studies on what not to do.

Ben is not a P5 QB and Chandler is not Baldwin level. Ben looks to be a better fit for us now with our OL troubles, but it’s silly to elevate one so high and degrade the other just to ram home a point you have made over and over. One I might add most probably agree with. Ben should start for the foreseeable future.

    Fair and balanced.
