Thread: So the QB decision has made itself.

  1. #1

UL Football So the QB decision has made itself.

Tonight, with all due respect to those who make hundreds of thousands a year to do certain jobs, I think each & everyone of us saw something that should cement in our collective minds that now the experimental phase of this two QB system which has been used the first 4 games of the season for the Cajuns needs to be properly placed in file 13 for safe keeping & future reference. I had no issue with Mike giving himself a proper look at both of his QBs until it started costing us games. But when it became obvious by the ULM game that he was either going to have to poop, or get off the freaking pot, it began to wear on my nerves that he didn't think he had enough information to make an educated decision of who the better QB was to run his team. Either that, or he was too worried about hurting someone's feelings to do what was best for the overall psyche of his team.

Well Mike, in case the Almighty who blessed you with yet another rain delay hasn't shown you the light. And in case the film hasn't convinced you by now. Please allow this one loud mouthed somewhat vulgar very obnoxious fan to break the news to you. If you try to bring back that 2 QB platooning crap again this season, you need to have your skull examined for PTSD because you would have obviously been struck one too many times in the coconut while playing ball. I'm most sorry I have to be the one to inform you, but if you find it too hard to break the news to Chandler that you have made the decision to go with Ben, then just send him to Ragin Pagin & tell him to read this thread so I can explain it to him myself.

Mike, I don't have anything against Chandler, but the fact is Ben is a bigger stronger guy with a big old arm & is tough as a two dollar steak. He has more nerve in the pocket & can get rid of the ball better & runs a hell of a lot better when he needs to skeedaddle than Chandler can. In short, one is a great FCS type QB & the other is a borderline P-5 starter. Ben also has the spark to light up his whole team & is a better extension of what you want on the football field. If you don't see that, then I highly recommend a visit with an eye specialist & a CAT scan for your head. In fact Ben has the potential to be good enough to even make you look good. You better watch it, or people might start calling you an offensive guru or some such silliness. Nice win, now do the right thing for your team & make the obvious call.

Disagree…. Chandler deserves his opportunity to start the whole game and practice as if he is the number 1 QB…. Got to give the dude his fair opportunity… he has not had that.

As much as I hate to say this, I agree with BWK. Based on his performance last night, you have to go with BW. Based on our current offensive personnel, we need to pass first, run second and BW gives us our best chance to be successful.

Chandler scored his first 2 possessions against ulm. You leave him in and not pull him he may have scored his first 5 possessions. You never know. Then you’d be saying the same thing about him 3 weeks ago. Before you bench him you got to give the guy that won the job over the long haul the same opportunity.

Winning fixes a lot. Winning also overlooks a first half anemic offense that got 3 points and @ 120 yards of total offense. The second half was great, having one QB was great, and I think Ben has earned his shot. But the “we put together a complete game” take is fool’s gold.

I’m happy yet cautious. Next game will tell if this is real or not.

The 2 QB system should be dead.

Yup. Big Ben . If Dez must stick with 2 qb s system let Ben get the majority of game time reps. His scrambling adds a much needed dimension to our offence.

It seemed like Ben matured a good amount and was able to stay in a collapsing pocket to get the pass away. He finally got a full game to adjust to the opponent. He made good decisions on throwing the ball away and running with it. He looks pretty fast too.

QB play was average at best. What we saw last night was the other team hell bent on giving the game away. We were gifted additional possessions by Marshall’s boneheaded play.
OL and RB are still in shambles so a consistent offense is only a pipe dream at this point. We will definitely see chandler again.
Great to see a kicker make some clutch FG. It kept our momentum going. That has been something we have needed all season.
Great road win for us and I’m happy Des gets to keep the naysayers quiet for a week.

The 2 QB system needed to go along time ago. I am not sure that Mike will ride the rest of the season with Ben or Chandler.

To the point with Marshall…right after their ND win, Huff let go their OL coach (reason never made public). And since then, Marshall lost their swagger. The fan base was geeked for last night, but at times the two teams were reflections of each other.

Wooldridge was our leading rusher last night. Double the rushing yards of anyone else. Our RBs averaged about 2.5 yards per carry.

Liked Ben’s performance, and I like how he’s not afraid to run into defenders to pick up yardage. However, he’s no Lamar Jackson. We ain’t winning many games if he’s our leading rusher.

O-Line still needs to run block MUCH better.

I’ll tell you again it’s Ben so you can tell me I’m wrong.

I am worried about the Cajuns getting W's and can care less who the coach has starting at QB. If you keep saying it over and over one day you will be correct.

Any news on why your boy Cambre isn't playing? Have a good day sir.

I like Bens pocket presence and patience better than chandler. they both can spin it with a clean pocket, but Ben looks better when the pocket is messy.
