I just can’t see a kid losing the job that he earned, over the long haul with out giving him the same opportunity, as the kid your giving it to. If Des pulled chandler in Monroe because “he’s a man of his word.” He sure won’t bench chandler without giving him equal opportunity.
I can only go back to my post about our defense being the strength of the team and needing the offense to be able to run the ball to compliment them. Ben gives us a running game that we don’t have with our line and backs. With Chandler we eliminate the ability to run.

I don’t know what words CMD made with his QBs. But we are in the bottom half of our division and have to play our best football to have a chance to win the division here on out. You play the guys that give you the best chance to win. I believe that would give CMD way more credibility with the whole team although admittedly I don’t know all the internal details.

I say this with the belief that Chandler has superior arm talent and passing ability than Ben. I have wanted Chandler to be the sole starter all year. The Marshall game, although far from perfect, was the best the team has looked and it was against arguably the best competition and on the road. I can’t ignore that.

There’s a nice “rehab unit” near Conroe from what I understand. Might even have a golf course.

I for one am not ready to crown Ben until you have given Chandler the same opportunity to be the man getting all the reps in practice and all the snaps in a game knowing he's going all the way and he has not had that chance yet.
Des cannot go in that locker room and take that spot from Ben now. Not after going on the road and getting that big of a win. We are halfway through the year, its time to stop tinkering and go.

    This.

Ben and Chandler both got ample opportunities. In fact, Chandler got even more opportunity to show he was the clear #1. Again, I'm not down on Chandler. I think he is capable. But you can't deny what we saw Wednesday. Ben gave the offense an identity that we have not seen to this point. Tom Brady replaced Drew Bledsoe, an all pro QB due to injury. Bledsoe's career ended in NE because of injury. It happens all of the time. It's unfortunate, but it's reality.

how about 1992, there was a QB transfer in from california higher on the depth chart that a local freshman…. the freshman gets into game after the QB(s) struggle and never looks back… almost opposite of current situation

Ben did an admirable job on Wednesday. He must be commended and rewarded for that.

However, he was not No 1 coming out of fall and spring practice for a reason.

History will repeat itself and Chandler will get another chance.

At this point, both have proven they have attributes.

Thou who gets in and is constant will get the playing time.

The reason stated by CMD was because Chandler could make more plays downfield. That's it.

However, the calculus has changed. We now know that Ben can throw just as good of a 50/50 ball as Chandler. We also know he is a very tough runner, which we need due to our OL issues. Chandler is already injured.

Midway through the season. The facts have changed. The team has changed. Reinjecting pre season substitution patterns for any other position would be ludicrous. Why would it be ok for the QB position?

Do you really think a coach provided you with every single reason for making a player choice? If so, I have some beach front property in Arizona I would like to sell you.

I have not petitioned for one QB or another here.

All I said is that history has a way of repeating itself. If it does, you will find Chandler as the QB again this season. If not, maybe it will be Ben all the way to the end.

Don't get defensive about providing a solution which allows Ben to retain the starting position unless he shows on the field why he was initially No. 2.

Biggest turnaround in NCAA history at the time, and a record that stood for 15 years.

I like a lot of what you are saying, but don’t agree here. We dropped tons of passes last year and the year before. So I don’t think we can blame it on musical qb’s
