Why not make him a RB instead of a wideout?

Because it’s quicker to eliminate the handoff and just run. Also, he can pass you know. Keep them honest as possible when he is under center.

    This is NOT a 2 QB system…just a wrinkle.

Too bad he can't teach his line how to block for it.

Outside of a healthy Chris Smith, I don't think the RB position will help improve the offensive line either. The backs simply don't have the ability to make defenders miss in space or make something out of nothing. That is where we greatly miss Johnson and Bailey.

I think last night showed the formula to victory for this team going forward. Good game management and leadership from the QB in getting the football to your playmakers, running game by committee including the QB, aggressive defense up front, good special teams and opportunistic in creating turnovers.

It sounds like a lot, but frankly we have lost too much talent on the offensive side of the football outside of the WR and TE position to improve much more this season. Execution is the key and less penalties.
I disagree. I just finished rewatching the game & studying our offensive run blocking scheme. I can say beyond a doubt it sucks donkey balls. Our linemen are being asked to makes blocks they simply don't have the athleticism to make. That doesn't mean they can't over power their opposite number. But it does mean they can't be in a one technique spot & be expected to block a 3 technique defender when the ball is going to the three technique side of the field. If you ask a player to make a play he simply cannot make, you are doing nothing but exposing him & making him look worse than he is. And a lot of that is going on with this offensive line on play after play after play. Simply put, you are not putting the right hat on the hat it should block & asking to make the block. It's not gonna happen. And yet, our Offensive line coach is asking his offensive line to make this happen.

On top of this we do precious little double teaming, absolutely no cross blocking & I have til yet to see an interior lineman attempt to pull for a play, or see a trap play run. IOW, our blocking scheme is is not only lazy as F---. It depends on the wrong guys trying to make blocks against their right guys to be successful. While I love our defensive coaches, our offensive line coach needs to be working at a bologna sandwich factory.

So you saying we need to see the possibilities in our problem(O Line)?

Double teams to the second level and pulling guards help with our single back run scheme, but we seem to struggle to execute… the fact is the Oline is not that great…. We need 4 Torrences back lol.

We basically had that a couple of years ago. 3 OL who are currently starting in the NFL and another who is a likely AA and high draft pick. Not to mention the 3 NFL rbs on that same team.

Pretty crazy. The bar was set high and hopefully we can get back to that

Attempting to move the same bar with much lessor equipment will reveal what we are experiencing.

I'm saying this offensive line coach is the issue. He's awful & therefore your line is awful. Just like your defensive backs are playing great. They aren't only playing great because they are al talented. they have someone making them play great as a unit.
