I don't care what anyone says, there was not a coaching search. They went for Des from the get-go. Now, I Love all the Cajun Connections and truly wish he can succeed (yet to be determined). What burns a lot of people including myself, is that this is the type of thing you do after you fire a losing coach. You experiment a bit, you take a chance on someone who has very little experience out in the FBS scene, who has not really learned what other institutions and staffs are successful at (not just 1-Napier). Here, at this moment in time, we were ranked in the top 20, on top of highest successful peak in our history. I would think, that would draw someone with proven experience, and reduce the risks to your program by getting a recognizable name in the FBS world. That's the difference in my eyes. Dr. Maggard went the risky route, the start all over route. The learning staff route. Do we have time for this in this current college upheaval? We will find out the hard way. Meanwhile, Geaux Cajuns.

    Sorry 3 straight
Did we not recruit in 2022? Sorry forgot, I'd have to blame those guys on the present home spun regime.

So here's my issue. You are using Billy as the only example Des has. That would be fine if he patterned himself after the example. SO far, all I've seen is one example after another of how they are doing things differently than Billy did them. That has led to the regression of the team. So don't blame Napier for this mess. And to those who don't think it's a mess. It won't be amess if they go to Marshall tonight & win.

What did maggard say? Was one of the reason he hired Des because he worked for Napier and was expected to do (some) things a certain way? And if so did Des break an agreement, or did Maggard lie?
Or did Maggard want the “rebuild” and cited that for the hire?

What I heard was there was a certain particular culture here & that culture was supposed to remain the same. That culture is most likely what drew the QB who is playing tonight to this school. Yet the things which shape the culture are all being done differently now. So my question is again, how do you keep the same culture when you do everything that you were doing to achieve that culture differently. We will see whether I am blowing steam just to blow steam tonight. A four game losing streak would be one hell of a turn around from the past several seasons.

Thank you! Clears it up well…..
but was that actually delineated in the hiring discussions? do you think (regarding the culture) is one going back on a certain promise by changing those things, or was the change to culture from changing those certain items unintentional? Or did maggard just “hope” culture would stay a certain way without actually discussing?

I'm actually describing what we were led to believe and told.

I can only speculate, but as of now, I can only believe that Des went back on his word on his own at the present time. I certainly hope that Maggard hasn't led him to make the changes he made. But then again, if this occurred, Des wasn't the right guy anyway. Either Des made all of these brilliant changes on his own, or was to weak to tell Maggard no, we're going to continue this, or that tradition because this, or that is part of the culture that made the difference between 4-1 , or 5-0 & 2-3. I highly doubt Maggard would be in on the day to day workings of the team as a unit so it all goes back on Des & his decision making. Maggard taking Des at his word may be problematic when you consider that he allowed marley another year with his long history of "sucksess."

And I concur. I am just expounding with frustration what you wrote.
