Dang. I should have skipped over this thread! Depressing and disheartening to say the least. Even if you believe Dr S doesn’t truly support this direction he most likely has to. To do otherwise would negatively impact funding and likely get him fired. It’s happening all over this country. I spent 20 years of active military service and another 20 in USAF civil service. I retired earlier this year as so much of this crap was being forced down our throats! I really feel for our younger generation in general and more so for our military … men and women who serve us and protect our freedom. But their hands are being tied and we spend too much time on this wokeness agenda when we should be training to carry out the mission. Disappointing on so many fronts.
    Old man rant …..

How many had to take Americanism vs. Communism during 60s in LA. Taught by poly sci at USL. One hour course. Felt about fifty fifty on which side was more popular. Prof always took opposite side of whoever spoke. I had AFROTC next class so was in uniform. Any position taken anti military, he asked me what I thought. Kind of silly course but prof tried. Another legislative boondoggle

Our enemies that hate us don't care what pronouns we use or how woke we are! We need to wake up to what's going on!

  5. This is a GREAT IDEA Re: University's Top Priority.....

This is happening throughput all institutions. I recall being force-fed a three day seminar about sexual harassment while the insured claims piled up without serious attention. Of course the presenter was a woman who made gobs of money from the Good Hands corporate office. Now they can say everyone knew what SH looked like and how to mitigate or stop it. Total waste of time and money.

Now awaiting stats to complete their paperwork. Very sad. Mostly due to widespread corruption post Katrina in LA and Miss. Rant over.
Louisiana (and others) post storm are always in a rush to get the funds to the people. The state of Louisiana had an elevation grant after Katrina/Rita. When it was discovered the market demand price had left the grant behind; allegedly, homeowners were told "well, that's ok, use the money to fix your house", ignoring the scope of the grant. In the past few years, the Feds finally got around to auditing the program, and low and behold, they want their money back that did not comply with the grant. Who pays the price? The recipients or taxpayers. It's not just a Louisiana thing.

I've been involved in projects post natural disaster in Louisiana and other locations. The word "NO" is very taboo; it is an absolute truth. Employees that say the slilghtest thing that offends are usually fired. And it's real fun when politicians get involved who want deliverables regardless of regulations.

And it's just not disaster money. Wait until the dust settles on the holes being dug in Lafayette Parish and the St. Martin Parish mess. That will not end pretty at all. Lafayette City and Parish will end up paying the price.
