Very poorly written article. The sentence immediately preceding the quote Scotsman posted is, “KATC asked students how they feel about diversity on campus, and what organizations they are apart of.” The next two sentences are quotes from students. Neither indicates being a part of any organization. I am curious what specific question on diversity on campus they were asked. If I had to guess, I would think the quoted student was trying to refer to a “predominantly” white institution (PWI) and was either misquoted or was just trying to use a term for non HBCUs and got it wrong.

I’m sure this article will be heavily dissected. With it being littered with such lazy “journalism” and lacking any real substance, I’m not sure it’s really worth that time.

Nope, not at all. Just pointing out what is going on at UL. Thought they would talk about how to get scholarships or something along those lines at a honor society meeting, not wokeness!!

My son had same experience. Seems like UL pushes wokeness to the point of alienation. If you think these things are not worth worrying about, then we will become the UC Berkely of Louisiana.

We may be one of the more woke campuses in LA. My son goes to UL, when he went to orientation, it was from 7:30 to 5 on a Saturday. Most of it was lectures on diversity, equality and LGBTQ. Never even got a campus tour. Had to have a friend go back the next day to show him where his classes were.
Fast forward a year, he gets an invite to join the National Honor Society. Must attend 6 meetings. First one was a lecture on diversity. Second one a lecture on LGBTQ and inclusion. Third one they were told that white men should never be in charge of anything again.
What the hell does this have to do with honor society??

He hates UL and will probably never set foot on campus again once he graduates and I know he's not the only one who thinks like this.
I'm not against any race, gender, etc. Just be happy with yourself and move on, stop with the damn agendas!!
Makes me sad that this is the same school I attended.

I didn't mean to step on anybody's toes with this post, just wanted to share some things going on for those that don't have kids at school yet or anymore.
This is just some examples of what is going on today at schools all over. Combine that with the way I hear students are treated at games and we are chasing off a whole generation of fans!!

The only woke class I ever had personally was a sociology course, and I feel like that's a given. Granted I have been out of school for a while, but I feel like honors/Judice was always its own little quirky world.

It makes me sad and angry to hear this!! If I had to guess, this has nothing to do with his major or the class he's taking?? This is definitely not the same USL/UL I attended!! As Robe would say, it's time for people to stand up!

Similar to getting federal money post hurricane. If an entity doesn’t hire a firm specializing in using those funds prepare to hire significant staff to follow the rules. No money till the work is done. If not done within silly govt rules, $$ may go away. Still working with a college on that from 2016. Not UL. And that’s with help. The Feds did there job. Now awaiting stats to complete their paperwork. Very sad. Mostly due to widespread corruption post Katrina in LA and Miss. Rant over.
