All I can say is that there’s still plenty cheese in Lafayette despite the run.

Coach Bustle worked hard and got back to respectable and would have got us to a much needed bowl game except for weird tiebreaker rules in conference. Coach Hud came in and broke the bowl drought and won a string of them. Coach Napier lost the first bowl and built the program up to win 3 bowls and get nationally ranked in top 20. All that success landed him at a richer and larger university as head football coach. That had never happened before and now Coach Des is the first to follow a coach who was so good he moved up the coaching ranks. Des is also dealing with the loss of some of the strongest pieces of the program including co-ordinators, position coaches, players including potential All-Americans, regular seniors, covid seniors, RS seniors, portal losers, and staff. We all were aware of but underestimated this impact. A wise man, let's call him Jay, once said when you lose a co-ordinator(Stewart) , you take 2 steps back before you go forward. Losing 2 co-ordinators and a head coach has got to hit you hard.
I know Coach Des would never bring this up as excuses and I respect him for that. Based on his resume as a coach and player, he deserves time to put his plan in place and I think he will be successful. We might have another tough loss or two, But as fans lets give the man a reasonable amount of time before we expect to be playing on New Years Day.
    GEAUX CAJUNS!!!
All valid and lucid points but I'd settle for Des just calling better offensive games. That's an improvement that can be done immediately and doesn't need time and our patience.

My question is why does Des feel the need to call plays? How about learning to be a head coach and manage the game appropriately? I would like to see him give the play calling to TL.

There are a lot of subjective views here on how things are going to go with Des and some want to wait and see what he can do over time, some see it already being less than desirable.

Let's just throw out some facts and see where we rank at the moment (FBS) with 5 games being played and see if it improves over the rest of the season.

    Passing offense - 94
    Rushing offense - 107
    Scoring offense - 95
    First Downs offense - 111
    Sacks Allowed - 38

    Fewest Penalties - 115

    Passing Yards Allowed - 85
    Rushing Defense - 53
    Scoring Defense - 32
    Turnover Margin - 4
    First Downs Defense - 72

Wow…not enough polish for that other than thank goodness for turnovers. And we’re not on the CBS Sports’ Bottom 25 Radar.

Winning close games is what Billy's teams did in 2021. It's not like Billy's teams were blowing every one out...he played some squeakers against bad teams. Let's see if Mike can get this thing turned around.
He won 6 games by small margins in addition to all of the other games he won. We won't even win 6 games, we've lost all 3 of our close games so far. We are a 0% win team in close games where Billy was almost 100%.

    Apples to oranges.

He had 5th and 6th seniors that played together for a half a decade. If you combine our current OL’s entire career starts, it’s half of the starts that Ken marks, Shane vallot and max mitchell had EACH! We have 3 redshirt soph’s, a redshirt freshmen and redshirt junior on the OL (once burton starts) Levi Lewis had 3 starts before Billy even got here and still split time once Billy did get here then went on to start 39 games in 3 years. Percy butler, Manac, Humphrey, Torrence, Johnson, Bailey, garner, Gardner, wisham…all gone. Lost All those guys and we are still only handful of plays from being undefeated. You know what a lot those guys were before they learned how to win together? 7-7.

This is called stomping a bad and disposable agenda right into the mud . . . Curious to see the comeback . .

You're going to have close games throughout the year regardless of the team you are. Perhaps there are a few anomalies in the CFB world but by and large everyone has close games that you need to win to be a good/great team. We haven't won the close games because we aren't a good team. Not even arguing why we aren't a good team, we simply aren't a good team.
