Agree. Just pointing out what we have all known is our hard core is 15-20K for years. The extra 10K that we sometimes get is the ones we need to show up. 25k-30K is our number which will be what the new stadium will hold in general attendance to make for a great atmosphere and create the basic economics of supply vs demand.
The only thing that stadium really really needs is a posh replay board & a better better sound system. Not louder, but better.
Trying to get college students of today, who have no personal childhood connection to Cajun athletics, to attend games is tilting at windmills.
The Ragin Review guys spoke about this. We have got to focus on the youth to fix this problem. We need to invest A LOT of resources in building a permanent fan base through an extensive outreach program.
…….I asked some folks about the App St game on TV this week….great crowd, the kids pumped, cheering and yelling…..sorry but our student body doesn’t care…..add to this our alumni that never did get excited as students……the LSU thing is cool, even when they are not the top ranked team in the state in football and we are in the top 20……rips my gut for the kids!
Ideas:
A game float and/or booth at the Rice Festival promoting the 4pm game.
A Louisiana booth at Gulf Brew (or whatever festival is happening that weekend) promoting a "Continue the the Party" at The Swamp promo.
A Louisiana RC float at every high-school homecoming parade.
Repeat at every festival available
