Thread: Homecoming: Catch the Locals Attention

  1. UL Football Homecoming: Catch the Locals Attention

Homecoming 2022 SHOULD be in 52 days at high noon with the sun in no one's eyes. You can have more than one homecoming in a season right? Louisiana vs Texas State.

Even though UL abandoned the tradition over 70 years ago, there have STILL been more Louisiana Homecomings on that day, than any other date in UL history.

Thursday November 24th twelve o'clock high. Enjoy the victory the rest of the day with family.

In case it was lost on you, it's an annual event.

Are you saying that UL used to do homecoming on Thanksgiving Day?

Yes it was once the standard.

In it's history, Louisiana has played a football game on Thanksgiving day at least 31 times.

    Home and on the road.

All the home games on TG Day were Homecoming.

You know what else was the standard with that? Playing Northwestern State on Thanksgiving Day prior to WWII. Let's reignite that rivalry in front of a generous 3,500 fans.

Those games were always the highest attended and generated the most buzz and it had zero to do with playing Northwestern.

But you are right Northwestern was the most common opponent for these highly attended (for the period) games.
