UL Football Run Game vs ULM: Better Than You Think

For anyone who didn’t realize because I just noticed. Cajuns had 86 rushing yards on Saturday. But were -36 on the fg and punt snaps. So actual rushing was 122 yards which isn’t great but better than 83

    36 Carries for 122 3.4avg
With 3 sacks included. So actual run plays probably averaged over 4.0 ypc.

Yes I’m looking for bright spots

You stats say one thing but my eyeballs and brain say another! Lol

There was a time when teams utilized a single back where 122 yards rushing would be considered a good outing.

Oh no. Your eyes are correct. 56 of those 122 were on 3 Carries. And 2 of those 3 were qb runs. Between the tackles was pretty ugly.

I'll take those QB runs all day long.

Chandler had the TD keep on the first drive. Ben had the 17 yard run up the middle on 3rd and long.

WRs need to catch the ball more consistently or we won’t be able to run up the middle.

No, the run game (with the exception of the improvised QB scrambles) stunk on ice.

If the O line doesn't block anybody, it won't matter if we catch the ball or not.

If the WRs catch the ball consistently the defense will have to back off or get torched. The LBs were coming down hill all night.

If that's the case, how about a screen pass? I don't recall seeing any.

I’d like to see rb screens to the outside. WR screens underneath where the wr slants never seem to work.
