No you feed the chicken to gators right behind the visitors bench just before kick off. Thats way better than the lame tiger roar or bulldog bark a lot of places use

Financially it is not the best option because theoretically you would want them to live as long as possible and be close to the same age the entire time they are together (full grownish). You would not want to purchase an older dog to match the older one you have if it is not going live out its full life with you.

I was in SGA back in the late 80's and early 90's and we discussed this exact thought. I wanted 2 bulldogs and was quickly informed why that would not work. Now the real option would be 2 Alligators because we have the availability to use Alligators here on campus or through the Wildlife preserves.
I had suggested Ragin' and Cajun

Russel made the Cajun Chicken what it was! No one else putting on that costume would do it justice. Go with the gator or something else and let the Cajun Chicken RIP!

As long as they don't confuse AL Boudreaux with AL Bundy, we will be just fine.

Actually love the AL Boudreaux mascot idea.

The long snout is a key component of a good mascot.

Just turning the head indicates activity from yards away.

But since mascots are part reality part fanimation there is no reason they can't be Vermilion Red.

He cleans up for the kids too.

    Tail not required.

Can't we just get two monkeys from the farm in New Iberia?

Not that I am against your mascot idea. Red won't work because it will fade to pink within just a few years. That was one of the reasons the pepper went away.

Louisiana has the live Bull Gators and Gators where they belong, in the heart of campus prime.

Unless they want to build another smaller Swamp at Champions Square.

If we bring back the Cajun Chicken, I wanna see a hype video made for him lol.

I think Gator is the best option, but consider this: that Cajun Chicken costume is probably old and nasty, so why not create a new and improved one and use that as our mascot??

    Just a thought

Those foamy flexi outfits get very dirty (especially on the inside) and need to be changed every few years regardless.

    It's worth the investment

JMO. I think it looks way too much like the Cajun man from years ago. Also, the design looks like it's from the 1950s. Nice try, though.
