I went to UL undergrad and us boys from the country went to all football games . . .

Yeah, after watching the first game, I had the feeling that the Cajun coaches were mainly auditioning pitchers to see who was going and who would be staying. This again was just a practice game, so it was for the coaches not the fans. Other than looking at some "not ready for prime time" pitchers, I did not glean much from the scrimmage, but I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination.

I was actually encouraged. 3 of the runs dA tIgGaHs scored in the 2nd inning of game one should have never happened. The strikeout reach and then the base hit was because Marshall fell behind and tried to see if he could goose one. Would never happen in a game.

Anyway, you can clearly see Preach is working on some off speed stuff that looks reliable to me. He's sitting 92 also. If he locates like he did last year, no reason he can't be a shutdown type arm for 6-9 outs a weekend, if not more.

Really like Moody. Love everything about his delivery and angle. Mentioned this before, but McGhee has elite spinnage. He just needs to learn to attack the hitter and stop nibbling. (Actually, we have a few of those guys right now.) Theutt is going to be someone we can rely on as well. I've heard nothing but good things about Tommy Ray's offseason. Yet to be seen, but its something to note. (I like him in a reliever role) Marshall gives you a power lefty with cut stuff; something we haven't really had since Hogan.

I have zero doubt that LSU will be ranked Top 3 in every preseason poll, they're going to be really good. On top of that, when you are playing 20 innings in the fall, you're not running guys out there in the roles they will be playing or pitching in come the Spring season. From the little I saw this Fall, and the little I have heard from sources I trust, this is going to be a fun ride. I don't know where it eventually lands, but we will be very good this year.
    You have sources?

I was also an LSU alum wearing the red, white and black. That was the bet lodged to which I responded. It is unbelievable how my allegiance to Louisiana only counts when it meets the narrative of this dip____ . . .

FWIW, the ball was flying yesterday. Flying like I don't think I've ever seen at a regular season game at the Tigue. The bad guys still hit more out of the yard than the good guys, but a few of those home runs were wind aided wall scrapers.
