It was the same for me. UL is raping us with the fees.

The “Service Fee” that’s $8 per ticket is where we are getting screwed.

The majority of the "service fee" goes back to UL and the Cajundome. The contract between Cajundome, UL and Ticketmaster dictates the % of the ticket fees provided back to the venue in exchange for handling tickets for the venue.

From Ticketmaster's website: In exchange for the rights to sell their tickets, our clients typically share in a portion of the fees we collect. In most cases, a significant portion or a majority of those service fees get paid to the venue or the promoter of the event you're buying the ticket for.

Service Fee and Order Processing Fee

In almost all cases, Ticketmaster adds a service fee (also known as a convenience charge) to the face value price, or in the case of a resale ticket to the listing price, of each ticket. The service fee varies by event based on our agreement with each individual client.

In addition to the per ticket service fee, an order processing fee is typically charged. Unlike the service charge, which is added to each ticket, the processing fee is charged once for each order. The processing fee offsets the costs of ticket handling, shipping and support and as a result, the processing fee is generally not charged on in-person box office purchases. In some cases, Ticketmaster's order processing costs may be lower than the order processing fee. In those cases, Ticketmaster may earn a profit on the order processing fee.

In both cases, these fees are collected by Ticketmaster and typically shared with our clients.

    Facility Charge

Each client decides whether to include a facility charge on ticket purchases. These additional fees typically help clients operate and invest back in the venues themselves. Facility charges may vary from event to event and can be raised or lowered over time. Ticketmaster does not share in facility charges, we simply collect them for venues.

Once again, whoever negotiated this contract screwed the fans. Look at the other TicketMaster schools. One has a processing fee and the other has no fees. When we first brought this up, everyone blamed TicketMaster saying that's just the way things are. Well, we now know that it's the CajunDome/University getting every dime they can from fans. There's other ticketing options available and need to be seriously researched before a new contract is signed.

Now here's where it gets interesting. Majority of the SunBelt use Paciolan which is not only a ticketing service but also fundraising. Guess what. Paciolan is a Learfield company! Time to kick TicketMaster to the curb and expand our Learfield partnership!

So basically, the university and Cajundome created the deal and are also the ones bringing in the cash as they nickel and dime fans.

    Fantastic.

According to this article, they are blaming LCG for the contract. Looks like it expires at the end of the year. Everyone needs to let UL, LCG, Cajundome, basically anyone using TicketMaster that it's time to get rid of them.

Looks like Josh Guillory tapped Tim Metcalf (Deano's) as the LCG Cajundome Commissioner according to this Advocate article:

May be worth getting in touch with him to voice our displeasure for the fees associated with Ticketmaster/Cajundome box office.

Even if they stick with Ticketmaster, would be nice if they reduced the facility fee and only charged it per ORDER and not per ticket.

Probably those nickels and dimes don’t go to the athletic department. So fans are subsidizing other university wants.
