Anyone who thinks rankings prior to the 5-6 week of the season are worth a flip need to hop in an MRI machine. They are only there to get me excited about watching #6 aTm vs #17 Boston College or whoever they decide to rank to juice the tv ratings.

The only thing the CFB committee has ever gotten right is to wait to rank the teams until whatever week they rank them. That’s the only time rankings are worth a flip because you can see how good a team actually is on the field.

The preseason rankings are nothing but a beauty contest.

We are talking about the independant part of the schedule.

Many of the schools who will be playing a G5 schedule in a few weeks have played a tougher independent portion than many ranked teams that will be playing a P5 schedule in a few weeks.
