Yes!! I second this.Let All students get in free with a school shirt on. You could add thousands of kids spending their parents money. Sell $10 GA tickets to the parents also. 1,000 kids getting in free spending $20 on concessions is $20,000 we wouldn’t have otherwise. And if it works and builds to 10,000 kids.$$$
Smart!
And yeah JMV, I’ve been around here with these issues longer than maggard. And hear a lot of the problems from the blue collar fan. I know tons of people that follow the program and never attend. Maggard moved here and got the job and hangs out with big supporters and fellow administrators. I’m not calling out maggard or trying to get personal, but I wonder how many friends maggard has around here that aren’t RCAF members or Cajun fans.
Free? Wrong....The problem with giving things away for free isn’t what you’d think. Yes, if you give it away, you’re not getting paid for value you’ve created, which most people don’t like doing. However, the real drawbacks of “free” are different.
First, it lowers the perceived value of what you’ve given away. If you’re willing to just hand it out for the asking, it must not be worth much, right? Well, if you’re doing things right, the giveaway may be quite valuable, but those who get it without paying for it won’t easily see that value. It’s sort of like you have a great sense of accomplishment when you do something that challenged you, but if you did the exact same things and found it easy to do, your sense of accomplishment won’t be there.
Second, and perhaps more important, if you get something without having to pay for it, you have no “skin in the game.” This means you don’t feel called to actually take advantage of it. If it’s an ebook or worksheet, you may have simply saved it somewhere in your computer, or even printed it out and filed it away. However, you most likely didn’t really read it carefully and learn from it everything you could. It’s almost guaranteed that you haven’t implemented in your life anything it taught you.
Again, this free stuff is a reward for showing up...it offers little incentive to attend in the first place....the attendance woes won't be cursed with free...
I get what you’re saying In this life lesson, but if it’s letting kids in free that would have otherwise had their parents pay then it doesn’t change your value part of it. Get kids in there having a good time with friends and taking selfies posting to social media. Kids will make going to the game cooler than anyone else will. And eventually it will be THE event in town.
Remember HUD sent players into schools to read to kids. They gave out free tickets to kids and told them to come to the game and see them. That was when our attendance went up. Parents bought tickets and brought their kids.
Of course you can. INSIDE of Cajun field.
For reasons/excuses for why people will not attend Louisiana football games check out the post by Zachary Dubois in the Ragin Cajun football group. 218 comments. After reading the comments I think we would have to provide free tailgating, free parking at Cajun field, then sell tickets to the game for $10. Casual fan expectations. However, I do agree our concessions need to be greatly improved
Someone mentioned earlier. Maggard needs a local young leader to head up this endeavor. A true lifer Cajun fan that can hit ground zero.
