Didn’t they publicly announce the architectural firm a couple months ago?

What false start? Rapid inflation? Cost of services skyrocketing?
What they can control is being done. What they can’t control is supply chain and cost of goods.
Like I said, some of y’all are soft and will never be happy that they can’t pull a Thanos and snap their fingers and it’s built.
The university is not a private enterprise, tons of red tape to cut through to get things done.
Prices are getting worse for building materials.
A coworker and I both bided out house midway though last year. Mine came back at $160 sqft his $165 I proceeded he did not . We had a conversation last week he had rebid and it came back at $240 sqft. I know housing material is a littler different but shows you inflation has been awful.
FYI Any engineer that would review a structure and come to the opinion that it should be condemned would express that opinion IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS and condemn the structure immediately. There is no way they would say it's unsafe and let occupancy continue. Take that from somebody who has been there and done that. If an engineer would come to the opinion that a structure is inadequate (that is a threat to collapse or a potential threat to life or safety) and allow that structure to continue to be occupied would be unethical and negligent.
Remember structurally unsound and structurally deficient are two different things.
Will this be a multiphase project? As in the west side will begin construction after this football season displacing season ticket holders to the east side and south endzone for 23 and then they will do the east side over the course of the offseason leading up to 24? Or will anything even be done to the student side other than that facade they put last year? Thanks for the info.
When it’s announced on national television it was starting when the 21 season ends, when UD season ticket holders are told they’re moving the next season, then, as documented on this site the preliminary engineering was just happening late spring of this year (which precedes any design work), and it became apparent nobody was moving this season, that’s a false start. I realize the fire was hot and the need to strike was there, but it played out not as advertised.
And actually material prices have soften. I’m still a Maggard guy, but the koolaid days are over. I fully understand the government thing, which further befuddles me…shouldn’t those in the university system understand this?
Dr. Maggard himself said in a recent interview that the architect has been hired.
Same here, but in the chemical business. Stuff we were paying 34 cents per pound last year is now $1.35 per pound... and that is if you can even get it.
Customers do not want to hear it. They say it too expensive and do not buy the product. Then a day or two later they call back and place the order (after calling other vendors and realizing it isn't us jacking up the price). It's a tough time to do business.
