I fully expect if the state gets involved, it will be some blah half ars design that can be copied for Alone Stadium in Monroe to save the state some money whenever the elements overtake their stadium..or worse...something like the student side of CF with the wall built ready to receive the upper deck "in the future"...what an ugly freaking optic.
My expectations and excitement, primed by all the upfront PR designs and discussions, have all gone away. It is getting at the point in my life, I'm almost at the DGAF stage with UL...I've done this dance before in the 80's and I know how it ends. Don't need the emotional investment anymore. We brought our family motor home back in the day when you could count the number of UL campers on one hand...we have traveled near and far...we drifted away for a bit while our children consumed our lives with travel soccer...returned after a major health issue, missing the enjoyment we once had...even despite the fact all our friends from back then moved, died or quit going...it didn't feel like USL, UL was taking steps forward.
Now it's smelling like USL again on several fronts...from marketing to stadium to McNeesing it (hire the bubbas for the non revenue sports because we can get them on the cheap...even McNeese now sees that error). It is getting hard to give the man, who at one time seemed destined to surpass TDP as our best AD ever, the enthusiasm we once had. I've given the whole situation a COVID pass, but really cannot any longer. I already have one sport we go to simply for a date night for my wife and I to get out the house...and it a bad product for some uncontrollable and controlable reasons. Reinhart Drive (athletics) needs to get their ____ together, because Martin Hall won't. Financially, I am a little fish in the RCAF pond...and RCAF needs their own "pond" as many stated at their inception. Nothing I can do to change things.
The Fossil would be so proud of what is happening.
Done ranting...
