I tell you another thing I would do. Acadiana has a woman’s football team. The Acadiana Spice.
I would try to move all the games to Cajun Field. Also I would try to get a minor league soccer team. Just to have a venue that is used more then 5 times a year.
If you look across the SBC were probably in the bottom half of what's charged for season tickets....JMU has $800 each season tickets with a donation of 4 figure to equal $3300...on the club level seating.Apps VIP is $400 before the Yusef fund for kicks in. Marsall top to get is $315, Ark state is $450..i looked at just the raw cost of the ticket before psi is added...i may be a buck or 2 off, but you get the idea
It’s supply and demand. When demand goes up and supply stays the same, you raise your price. Right now we have way more supply, i.e. empty seats, than demand. Why in the hell would you raise prices?
Someone has to pay for the stadium renovation, or it will not happen. Everyone around here seems to want something for nothing. Either we pay and get the renovation, or we continue to live with the stadium as is. That seems like a pretty clear choice to me, and I have 5 season tickets to pay for every year.
I fully expect if the state gets involved, it will be some blah half ars design that can be copied for Alone Stadium in Monroe to save the state some money whenever the elements overtake their stadium..or worse...something like the student side of CF with the wall built ready to receive the upper deck "in the future"...what an ugly freaking optic.
My expectations and excitement, primed by all the upfront PR designs and discussions, have all gone away. It is getting at the point in my life, I'm almost at the DGAF stage with UL...I've done this dance before in the 80's and I know how it ends. Don't need the emotional investment anymore. We brought our family motor home back in the day when you could count the number of UL campers on one hand...we have traveled near and far...we drifted away for a bit while our children consumed our lives with travel soccer...returned after a major health issue, missing the enjoyment we once had...even despite the fact all our friends from back then moved, died or quit going...it didn't feel like USL, UL was taking steps forward.
Now it's smelling like USL again on several fronts...from marketing to stadium to McNeesing it (hire the bubbas for the non revenue sports because we can get them on the cheap...even McNeese now sees that error). It is getting hard to give the man, who at one time seemed destined to surpass TDP as our best AD ever, the enthusiasm we once had. I've given the whole situation a COVID pass, but really cannot any longer. I already have one sport we go to simply for a date night for my wife and I to get out the house...and it a bad product for some uncontrollable and controlable reasons. Reinhart Drive (athletics) needs to get their ____ together, because Martin Hall won't. Financially, I am a little fish in the RCAF pond...and RCAF needs their own "pond" as many stated at their inception. Nothing I can do to change things.
The Fossil would be so proud of what is happening.
Done ranting...
Yea, if the options are delay construction by a 2-3 years or cut corners on the design, take a few more years and be transparent about it. Or else we're going to be stuck with a half-ass design for another 40 years. I'm hoping Dr. Maggard isn't treating the completion of CF renovation as his professional finish line here and leaving us with a scaled back renovation that won't be revisited for decades.
Bottom line is we still need to raise more money. Nico was the point guy the last year or so and got a lot of things done. His leaving may delay things.
But even if they don't, and we start demolition, 2023 will be a displaced season for everyone. The "new" OLOL stadium wouldn't be available til 2024.
There is nothing realistically out there that says '23 will be a displaced season. Until I see a wrecking ball bashing somehthing on the upper deck or charges going off, then I'll beleive it. I know you and I personally don't know each other, but you do know my passion...I'm the guy that sent you the article regarding the old Mecca Arena, compairing it to Blackham years back during the MBB reunion. Casual fans, non invested fans, don't keep things like that.
