Shots fired near The Grand 16 (not Cajun Field)

Maybe I can help clear this up. Last night just after 9:30, I received a text from the UL emergency alert system (my son attends UL) with this info. I think someone at UL made a boo boo!! Sorry for the confusion!

I would hope whoever originated this misinformation on the UL system gets kicked in the nuts.

Same text my wife received(faculty) while sitting outside at Legends. 5 minutes later multiple police cars are blazing down Bertrand toward Johnston. We’re trying to figure out why they’re headed away from the shots fired. 15-20 minutes later headed down Johnston and there’s about 10 units in front of The Grand and Doucet is closed off. Our first thought is we sure it’s not another shooting in The Grand.

It’s crazy I had 4 different people check with me within 5 minutes of this breaking. It’s like it was everywhere instantly.

I posted on here 26 minutes after the thread was created that KATC and police were reporting this to have occurred at the corner of Johnston and Doucet. Any association with Louisiana was dispelled at that point.
