Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Minnesota) are listed anywhere in the largest crowds in Cajun Field history! Until fans decide to come support the Cajuns and not worry about who the opponent is, this athletic department must remain fiscally responsible. Paying big bucks for a P5 to come here when we fans have proven (by lack of attendance) that playing Southern is more attractive just does not make sense. Doing so would be acting like the government and be spending money we don’t have!
Preach broths cause many need to learn . . .

Initial reaction is that a 3-for-1 is unfair and should not be entertained.

That is short term thinking at its finest. That line of reasoning has Louisiana approaching a 20-for-nothing exchange rate with the P5.

As to why you pay them more than they pay you, it's because they lose more when they hit the road.

  4. Default Re: 2025 Football Schedule is complete with MickeyNeese

We don’t do it because it is not sustainable. Period.

    20,000,000 > 10,000.000 is why we don’t do it

On a 3 for one, for every 4 games we get 3mm and pay 1mm so it’s a net 2mm times 5 4 game periods in 20 years is 10mm (assuming we would not have to pay more than we receive}.

Even doing this once at 2 for 1 is not financially sustainable. 3mm > 1mm. It’s not hard to understand. It’s not rocket science. It’s just simple math.

You ONLY pay for a no return game.

This is about building relationships something this school views as hard work.

When you have relationships a 3-for-1 is totally sustainable.

Two road appearance fees where the host comes out way ahead, (relationship building) coupled with a seamless no money 1-for-1

    3-for-1 totally sustainable and profitable.

If we aren’t willing to pay a couple million bucks to get better competition here, which is our best chance to beat them, then let’s just quit talking about being big time!!! When boise got big and was hosting p5’s you think they were paying their own way to see the blue turf? No, boise made an investment in competition. Just like you make an investment in stadiums, advertisements, concessions….
Anything you’re not guaranteed to make your money back on. Why would this be any different. You’re not getting a p5 here just to say you did, you’re bringing them here to try and build a fan base. Maybe that’s not the answer but they haven’t found the answer yet. We haven’t had a p5 here while being this good/ranked, so who knows what to expect.

Let us know when you find the money tree or you are willing to write the check. Either would probably get Dr. Maggard there.

It’s time to get happy going to Cagin Field to see the home team. Good things will come from that.
Maggard knows what he’s doing???? Are you sure?? Ranked team 2 years in a row and can’t get 20,000 butts in seats, can’t sell 10,000 season tickets.

And when more than 20,000 did show up they ran out of concessions and people missed half the game waiting for them.

As far as football goes, he’s made the right hire once and I believe a second time. So we started winning. Nothing else has really changed.

My point and you want to spend a couple more million that we don’t have. Sounds really thought out.

Here's where it becomes a fallacy.

You are assuming in a 2-1 or 3-1 we'd get paid for one or two games and you'd be correct, most times.

But you aren't going to get the kind of payday that you'd get just playing on the road.

Hypothetical. Cajuns normally get 1.5 for a P5 road game. They agree to 3-1. One of the games is part of the home and home so you don't get paid. The other two, you're offered 850K, not 1.5

That's the way it normally works.

Not a sustainable model,, to be sure.

It gets tuff for the message board warriors when they have to deal with the real facts a opposed to their own made up facts . . . FACT
