The Curtis Rodemaker plant mentioned by RedTails is on the corner of General Mouton and Pinhook. Both of you are correct.

Won’t ever happen, someone has to lead and a state wide university would lead a regional university McNeese won’t touch the idea.

I was thinking it might be the National Wetlands Research Center but I checked, and it is 62000 SF

My guess would be the Estuarine Habitats and Coastal Fisheries Center in the research park. Due to political infighting, it was never really used for its original intended purpose and its office space was being rented out to other government agencies. It has been mostly vacant in recent years.

However, that facility is over 69,000 square feet.

I seem to remember a news article a while back about UL wanting to turn it into a lab school.

The university has big plans for it, he said."
Thanks, I did not see that!

We'll see. This would be great for both schools, and I'd like to think egos would be set aside.

I would hope for the same, but in my decades of watching interactions between the two cities, it’s a long shot.

You may be surprised. Someone with UL told me recently that there is cooperation with McNeese on some issues occurring.

Plus other universities involved. International scope. Glad Kennedy is getting involved. Cassidy had been our only buddy. Sort of like Bennett Johnson. If we get both senators helping, we’re good to go on research continuing to grow.

I have no insider connections or sources to either university, but the impression and feeling I get is that over the past few years the two schools and their leadership are pulling much more in the same direction than trying to fight each other.

No matter how one looks at it, this is a good thing.

What is really encouraging is that UL is the lead school on some of the things 60’sWereBest refers to in his post.

I would hope so. I’m sure on the academic side, the McNeese administration see the benefits of following and doing joint ventures with R-1 UL.
