Thread: Cajun Field going cashless... NOT

We should not eliminate cash as a way for people to pay for concessions. If we want to have card only lines, fine.

But there’s older season ticket holders who still don’t do the debit card thing, and at a time when we’re needing every penny to keep our athletic funding competitive, we want that cash.

I’ll pay for anyone ahead of me in line with cash only as long as they stay the whole game.

Also because many of the workers probably can’t figure out how much change the customer is due back!

Correct and covid protocols changed the way things were done before.

Minute Maid Park is cashless. Sign of the times I guess.

This is probably the biggest reason for the move.

I believe it’s the opposite. “CASHLESS” keeps workers from stealing. Just a thought 🤔

    I believe it’s

my problem is that I come from out of town and bring x dollars in cash for my trip, and using the card makes it hard to stick to my budget for the trip. I know that making anything cashless makes the dollar less meaningful and promotes more sales just like why a casino uses chips and not real cash since the mind doesn't equate it the same and you end up spending more..

I understand the threat of money going missing but I'm not a fan of cashless. I use cash for pretty much everything. Now we will have the extra service charge added to everything increasing costs on fans.

I won't speak about anything anyone else might use or not. I know that I almost NEVER have cash so I am completely fine with a cashless system. I wouldn't have it anyway. Haven't written a check in years. I've never been inside my bank (not even sure there is one for me TO go inside.)

I see an earlier post that said the information about Cajun Field being cashless came from an alumni email. I think that email was referring to the alumni tent being cashless.

Maybe Jay can look into it?

I did see the release from the Alumni Association about being cashless. I've not seen anything about Cajun Field.

I will ask and report back as necessary.

Cashless makes it difficult for the kids to go to the concession stand and get things for themselves. No way I'm sending my card with them.

This is from the UL Alumni email:

    PLEASE NOTE THESE UPCOMING CHANGES:
Cajun Field is a cashless venue and the Alumni Association will no longer be accepting cash or checks at tailgating for admission and Loyalty Fund renewals. Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay will now be accepted in addition to credit or debit cards. You can also text TAILGATE to 53-555.

What does the AA charge for? Everything is free, unless you haven't donated to the Alumni. Then you have to pay to enter the tailgate area.

What I had read from the website. Can’t find the email:

    Admission & Payments

The Alumni Association wants its guests to have an enjoyable time and hopes the following information helps everyone come prepared for gameday, beginning with admission to the Hospitality Tent. Admission fees remain the same, except we will no longer accept cash or check payments. The following payments will be accepted:

    Credit or debit card
    Venmo
    PayPal
    Apple Pay
    Google Pay
Admission for home tailgates is $15 per person. Loyalty Fund donors of $50 or more get in for free.
