Highlighted by returning All-Sun Belt Conference performer Eric Garror and redshirt sophomore Trey Amos, the cornerback group under assistant coach Jeff Burris is looking to lock down the secondary.
Garror produced 23 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, seven breakups and recorded two picks in 2021 en route to securing Second-Team All-League honors, while Amos tallied 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups in 12 appearances.
A solid group of veterans in Amir McDaniel, AJ Washington, Caleb Anderson, Jalen Clark, Key'Savalyn Barnes and Justin Agu return to the team this year. Transfer Keyon Martin, who joined the Ragin' Cajuns from Youngstown State, and newcomers Denim Day, Lorenzell Dubose, Collin Jacob and Calep Jacob will also eye to make an impact.
Louisiana opens the 2022 season at Cajun Field on Saturday, Sept. 3, when the Ragin' Cajuns host in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
