With the 2022 regular season rapidly approaching, Louisiana Football got its first taste of game action on Saturday afternoon when the Ragin' Cajuns completed the first scrimmage of Fall Camp.

It was a great showing in all three phases for Louisiana, which is now exactly three weeks from its home opener against Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Michael Jefferson was a bright spot on offense, setting the tone early on the first play of the scrimmage with a 52-yard snag before finishing the contest with three catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Golden Eke hauled in the other receiving touchdown of the contest from Lance Legendre.

Through the air, Ben Wooldridge completed nine of his 16 attempts for a team-best 86 passing yards, with Chandler Fields going 6-for-7 for 68 yards and two passing scores. Legendre added 58 passing yards, while Zy McDonald contributed 41 passing yards and led the team in rushing with 75 yards on two carries, one of which was a 61-yard touchdown rush.

Running back Jacob Kibodi toted the ball nine times for 56 yards and caught one pass for 10 yards. Sophomore Terrence Williams was also impressive, scoring two touchdowns on the ground after rushing for 31 yards.

Defensively, newcomer Kailep Edwards and linebacker Jourdan Quibodeaux each led the squad with six tackles. Edwards also tacked on a tackle-for-loss and a sack. Tyrone Lewis, Jr., and Kam Pedescleaux each recorded five tackles, while Bralen Trahan came up with the games lone interception and Keyon Martin recorded the games only fumble recovery.

Kickers Kenneth Almendares and Logan Klotz both looked sharp and hit field goals of 44 yards and 43 yards, respectively, during the scrimmage.

Louisiana opens the 2022 season at Cajun Field on Saturday, Sept. 3, when the Ragin' Cajuns host in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
