The tight ends are one of the most, if not the most, experienced units on the offensive side of the ball for Louisiana entering the 2022 season and are expecting a big year under associate head coach Jorge Munoz.

Three-time Preseason Mackey Award Watch List selection Johnny Lumpkin leads the group into the campaign. The Atlanta, Ga., native made 13 starts and appeared in all 14 games for the Ragin' Cajuns in 2021, recording eight catches for 141 yards and a touchdown. In his career, Lumpkin has caught 20 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns.

Junior Neal Johnson and redshirt junior Pearse Migl will also continue to make huge contributions this season. In 2021, Johnson led all Louisiana tight ends with 487 yards on 22 receptions and scored a touchdown, while Migl appeared in all 14 games hauling in 11 passes for 103 yards.

Damani Burrell, Jathan Caldwell, Rhett Guidry and Joe Lombardi, Jr., all return for the Ragin' Cajuns, while the group welcomes in newcomer Terrance Carter and transfer Tyler Hatcher.

Louisiana opens the 2022 season at Cajun Field on Saturday, Sept. 3, when the Ragin' Cajuns host in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
