That man, Chris Smith, has a new fan! I am so proud of the way he has been handling his life and including fellow players in his activities. These are the things that show you we have an excellent program here. It is more than just wins on the football field, it is wins in life.

Yeah, been a fan of Chris' since he got here.

IMO, he epitomizes what I think we hope not only a representative of the athletic program should be, but a representative of the University in general should be.

During the Q and A on the stage at media day, he was asked about if he considered leaving. I can't quote him exactly but he said something to the effect of....

why would I consider leaving. This school gave me an opportunity to play college football. Why would I ever want to leave someone who was so good to me?

    Man, I was impressed.

I watched much of the SBC Media day coverage and Chris Smith represented UL probably better than any of the other "student" athletes that I saw. I have a new respect for Chris.

I got a kick out of some. They were parroting their coaches when it came to answer. One was a broadcast major. Most sounded like reasonably literate and interesting intelligent people.

As someone with an at needs child, I have had experience with Donielle Watkins and the "Dreams Foundation" locally. This is a great organization and worthy of support. Congratulations to Chris Smith in supporting their efforts in the community.
