Louisiana Athletics has once again set the standard for excellence on the field and in the community after it was announced that the Ragin' Cajuns led the Sun Belt Conference in community service hours.
Leading the charge was the Men's Golf program, which was the highest-ranked team among all Division I men's programs according to Helper-Helper. The Women's Tennis team was the second-highest ranked women's program.
Men's Golf, Women's Tennis and Baseball each ranked first against like programs, making Louisiana one of two schools in the nation with three top-ranked programs in community service. Overall, Louisiana logged the seventh-most hours in Division I.
Embracing the department's core values, specifically service, the Ragin' Cajuns have been continuing to increase their involvement in the community.
A key force behind the community engagement is the Geaux Lead program, which is commited to inspiring, engaging and advancing student-athletes' personal growth outside of athletic pursuits. The program has been an advocate for community service by placing student-athletes with organizations throughout Acadiana, including Our Lady of Lourdes and the United Way.
