Southeastern Louisiana Attendance

The link (and ULs record book) says we first played them on Nov 11 1930. However, our team was in Florida on that day, according to the Advertiser. We beat Florida Southern 13-0. I’m pretty sure the first game was actually in 1931.

So, as I always do, I checked the multiple models I follow, and alas, ONE out of 8 has a hurricane in the Gulf Labor Day Weekend. And of course, hitting us. No other model even develops what Rob is alluding to.

Not to mention the fact we are playing southeastern. It sort of increases the width of any “cone of uncertainty” in relation to whether a game can be played if a storm does enter the gulf around the end of the month

Hurricanes in late August is a pretty common event for Louisiana. Just checking and Galvez suffered a hurricane in New Orleans before he took the British out of Manchack and Baton Rouge. He got a lot of help from Opelousas Cajuns. Many families qualify for sons and daughters of the American Revolution from those two battles.
