Just for the record I have no problem with someone smoking weed. Sometimes I wish I could spend my life high.

I wish some of you guys would help Dr. Maggard with scheduling. He keeps saying it is hard, little does he know.

I don't know about any of you, but nothing gets my juices going as a Cajun fan as much as playing against a P5. It's the essence of our "Respect" motif we've had for decades.
The only independent with (and has had) access to the NCG is Notre Dame since the first BCS games. BYU and Liberty being independent and private universities like ND don't even have a chance.

3 for 1 is the way to go.

With that model you have a P5 at UL every 4th year.

2 of the 3 have an appearance fee.

    The 3rd game is free.

    The return game is free.

With only 4 independent games to work with annually, UL can have 3 of these relationships simultaneously. Spread it out and you can have as many as you want.

The only two "real factors" are winning percentage and strength of schedule.

There's a glitch in the matrix, Vic. I agree with you.

BYU would have never gone back to the WAC or back to the Mountain West.

For UL, being independent can generate more money than SunBelt membership, but being independent can't generate more money than being in the Big-12.

You don't go independant to live there forever, and you don't go there out of dire straights. You go there to make more money, set yourself apart, get noticed, become first on everyone's lips, when it comes to conference expansion.

Administrators view it as to much work, that's why it will never happen and that's why you can't trust what an administrator says on the subject. They will never admit they love the conference scheduling Wednesday night games for them more than they love putting in the effort.

Being in a high paying conference is the ultimate goal. Not a conference that pays you $333,333 for a home game.
Even Notre Dame will be forced to join a conference soon. You're delusional if you think being independent is the way to go. If just going independent means playing for a natty, why doesnt every G5 just become indy? C'mon man. You've made me agree with Vic! See what you've done?! I hope you're happy.

I think Turbine knows EXACTLY what he is doing. A lot of posts/traffic over a non starter in the dead of summer.

The only thing forcing ND to even consider a conference is the $100M they can get from joining the B1G. There is no other driving force for them. Not every team has such high aspirations and willing to take a risk to achieve it.

It’s all about brand value and how good of a TV deal a team can get. ND is in a different position because they are independent and can negotiate their own TV deal with NBC. If NBC doesn’t pony up almost equal to what they could get from the BIG 10 then ND goes to the BIG 10.

On the UL side of things we need to continue to push the “Louisiana” brand and win conference championships. This will continue to improve our value. That’s what it is all about nowadays. Your brand’s value.
