I wouldn't call a 16-6 team that beat a nationally ranked Tx A&M squad "sub-par competition". I do agree that we need to be able to do this on a more consistent basis, but this was a good win against a good club.

Of course, I also think weekend wins are more important... but the "sub-par competition" comment is not accurate. Northwestern has not been and is not this year a sub-par program. They've played a pretty decent schedule and were 16 and 6 coming into last night's game. Two of their losses were on the road to Southern Miss and 2 to a good UTA program. They have 2 wins over ULM, a win over Southern Miss and one against Texas A&M... both on the road.

NW ST is not a good competition. I don't care what anyone says. Check out their starter, and that will tell you plenty. We should expect to always beat NW St midweek, at home.

So they're basically the same team we are. Not a good one.

a review of the rpi rankings show that n'western is behind only 2 belt teams. so they're not "sub-par" as far as cajun opponents go, but above par, in fact.

Well then we may be on the brink of breaking thru, because we handled them pretty soundly for 9 innings and that's something we have had trouble doing most of the year. When we play a complete game, I like our club. But when the "pink elephant" shows up we become very average cause we just haven't figured out how to overcome those things yet
