The two schools that make the most sense for the SunBelt are East Carolina and UAB.

Whether it is in a western division of the AAC or an eastern division of a revamped MWC, both UTSA and Texas State will end up together, there. There is a reason BOP mentioned Texas State could be leaving. They see what is coming, and want to be with their regional friends.
Meanwhile, the SBC will keep getting pushed eastward. We will be the western edge of a conference with the majority of the schools east of Alabama. I hope it is worth it.
This is my dream scenario. SMU goes PAC, maybe UTSA too, then PAC adds a handful of western MWC schools. MWC responds by going large into Texas and scoops up all of the western AAC leftovers, including Texas State. AAC is gutted. At this point, we hold all of the cards and stand at 13 members.
Hopefully , somehow, Memphis is still there. We go hard after Memphis, South Florida and East Carolina. We get those, game over. We will be the TOP G5 forever.
No matter what happens, this much I know: this is the most interesting conference realignment chapter yet.
