Half of this board was all fanboy over Tulane vs. USC and now that single game may end up hurting Louisiana in the long run. If Tulane can somehow get a PAC invite, it will really hurt recruiting for the Cajuns.

I never was fanboy for the Lamers.

PAC 9 filling up with private schools. Not a good idea.

You’re right about UTSA. The entire list should be UTSA, SMU, Tulane, Memphis, Liberty, ECU and South Florida. I’m warming up to UAB as the last option.

No other G5 school in our region would be worth a full membership invite.

UTSA and ECU would be my ideal call-ups.

Only ECU and UAB are close to what the Sun Belt is made up of.

Memphis, UTSA, and USF are in major metro areas.

The SBC isn’t against major markets, but must have strong fan interest. Both Memphis and UTSA have that.

GSU & OD currently in the SBC have big tv markets

With that being said, if another conference such as the AAC were to come calling, I think UL has to make the jump strictly for financial reasons.

If my quick google search is correct, each AAC school receives $7 million per year from their tv deal. Each SBC school currently receives $500k per year. That number alone will boost the athletic department significantly. Plus any other conference money there is to be had. As a program that is struggling to put together funds, you have to follow the money in my opinion.
Sunbelt contract is 2 million per team per year. Now for years I wanted to leave the sunbelt but now the sunbelt is or will be in the near future than the AAC IMO the AAC is the next CUSA in about the next decade or less. This conference is a shooting star when it comes to potential and a lot of bus games which is great for the budget. Now if the BIG 12 comes calling definitely go but besides that best to stay where we are for now. We don’t need to pull a La Tech on this

Unless I missed someone, SBC schools have 7 games scheduled against AAC schools this coming football season. Louisiana vs. UAB is a biggie. To influence the perception amongst national media its vital that SBC schools win those 7 games or almost all of them. And we need an SBC member to make the NY6 bowl instead of an AAC team. Do that most years then we change perception and future media $$ deal. An 11-1 SBC team could possibly ; get into NY6 this year; don't know if 10-2 will be enough.

ODU is never shown on any channel in any sport, and barely even makes the nightly local tv news, yay "big" market
