Total effing chaos for everybody else in FBS.

I reiterate my desires from 30 years ago. UL needs to be in the most competitive, regional conference available. Back then, I hoped that would be the Big12. Today, I still want that, only the conference lineup will be much different.

Different lineup but better than SBC. Of course, Tulane and the New Orleans market would be our competition for that spot or maybe both of us.

Properly marketed, we should be able to sell that we have better penetration in the NOLA market than Tulane does.

Besides saying we don't have the mental fortitude to schedule for ourselves out of conference, (so put us in a forced to schedule scenario) Tech in the SBC makes zero sense.

There was an interesting Stewart Mandel column today where he laid out scenarios there was more media revenue to be gained with an outright merger of the Big 12/Pac 10. Mandel also stated bump the numbers from 22 to 24 members for easier pod scheduling adding San Diego St. and SMU. He yadda, yadda about SMU being across the metroplex from SMU but that would make 5 Texas schools. Its the longest of long shots, but UL definitely should be letting the Big 12 know of its interest. The mega conference adds a new State. Sure we'd have to wait for years to rake in larger piece of the TV dollars but you do what you have to do to get foot in the door. The east pod of 6 team scenario was Cinn, Iowa St, W. Va, UCF, Kansas, Kansas St., central pod scenario listed was Baylor, Houston, OK St., TCU, Texas Tech, then insert your favorite team here. Granted USF and SMU would be formidable competition to get past for membership. Throw your name in the hat anyway.

…..Can’t we match up with all the central except for basketball and we certainly have the facilities for that to improve…..we are R1….geography not bad…..And ATTENDANCE would no doubt take a quantum leap!

I agree with you about attendance, but some people will argue against that theory.

It’s a lot deeper than that. Have you not paid any attention to them when they were splitting from the sunbelt. Let’s hold them to all those comments.
