Thread: Conference realignment again????

What is the seating capacity for Cajun Field when the renovations are done? I haven’t seen a number. We are listed at about 41,000 right now. If you look at the artist conception drawing, it appears that only the bottom few rows and a couple rows under the new press box are drawn into the plans. That is a significant decrease in seating for the new upper deck. I would guess it’s about 8,000 seats +\-. That would put us at approx 33,000. Right at about where most people are suggesting. So, is this correct??

Tech and UL TOGETHER academically could do things...UNO and Southern are just classified as state wide univiersities for politics. But Tech won't admit they're in distant second academically out of the four state wide universities. Until Mr. Davison and his spawn come around, Tech is never to be trusted. He runs the show.

You want dillusional...go the the McNeese FB page. My goodness, it's a wonder the DEA hasn't infiltrated the site to figure out what they're smoking.

Let Tech rot thru this next cycle of changes and then, maybe, Texas State realizes the WAC or MWC is where they belong; backfill with Tech then. Until then, you know...
The McNeese sight is funny they booted me off of it. I ask where do you think yall will find 20 mill more a year ...Their response TV money

I corrected my post as per a friend that made his last donation to the stadium fund today. It suppose to sit around 35K, which is that last numbers he was given. They will have the ability to add later, but the grandstand will be done. That makes way more sense than 25K or less at this point.

"Benson said Louisiana Tech was willing to pay to join the Sun Belt last fall and essentially was told to go kick rocks by Louisiana"

Works for me, as long as there is plenty of covered concession/restroom areas all around the stadium.

F-Tech, Screw Tech, bend over Tech, take it in the butt Tech. I am sure there are other ways to say it, but they bring no value!

    1. I don't expect the Sun Belt to expand again, tho' it conceivably could happen. If you expand, you expand by two teams, one east and one west. There is no school other than Tech that benefits the Cajuns and the league as far as western expansion is concerned. Keep in mind, we're talking a few years down the road. Plenty of time for them to become more humble.

    2. I'm not petty and I don't take it personally. Tech has some real butthole fans. Guess what? So do we. In fact, many of you are starting to sound like the guys on BB&B with your superiority issues. Don't take that personally. Just making an observation.

    3. Louisiana Tech (on the field) adds value to the league. They would be competitive in the five major sports and would be in the top 25 percent in most of those. Iron sharpens iron.

    4. The people in the La. Tech administration who were holier than thou are all gone. They've been replaced by much more reasonable people, from what I've been told. The name remains the same, the players have changed.

    5. We need a rival. Our rival has been "flavor of the month" for about 20 years now. We (you) have rejected ULM as a rival. That's fine. But we need someone to hate. As Kevin Foote has said many times, sports hate is a good thing. You might be ready to bring up Southern Miss and time will tell. But South Alabama has more of a recent history with them and they are closer in geography. And for those of you who have suggested we have a rivalry, just not in conference, sorry. If they aren't in the league we don't play football every year...and even if they did, there's something about a conference rivalry that trumps everything.

    6. It gives our fans a game they can travel to and vice versa. This league needs visiting teams to travel. It helps from a revenue standpoint among other things.

    7. Who gives a ____ what they call us? I've always said from the day the name was changed, that state schools would never comply. Now, a couple have. ULM refers to us only as "ragin' cajuns." McNeese, Tech and LSU are NEVER going to call us Louisiana and like I said, who gives a rat's ___. You know who calls us Louisiana? The ones that matter.
(And, that "bow the knee" attitude didn't work very well for Daenerys Targaryen, did it.)

I don't like Tech. Not even a little bit. And, for me, that's even MORE reason to want them in the league.

So, you guys can rant and in at least one case, say I'm full of ____. But I think I'm right on this one. We need a rival and there's only one school in America right now that fits the bill.

I always said it would happen when Tech put their ego in their pocket. It's happening. Maybe we need to put our ego aside as well.
Sorry, you are still on the wrong side of this one.

Solid points are being made on all accounts regarding LaTech. Personally, I agree with Jay and at the end of the day would make for a beautiful rivalry. I’m ok with letting them rot for a few years but having them in the SBC would be fun. Furthermore, if ULMost could somehow tap out of FBS athletics that would be a bonus. Having three conference universities in Louisiana is a bit much.

For those suggesting Middle Tennessee, I can’t stress enough about avoiding that mess. WKU makes 100% more sense.

Lastly, ECU should be the final target for the East.

Plus I really don't think the at the end of the day any of the teams in the SBC want to travel to NY to play a game.
You would move to north south divisions with the Georgia schools moving over….the money value army and navy would add would be the best option for the SBC… I wouldn’t say this would never happen as I never thought usc and ucla would ever join the big ten.

If ULM wasn't in the conference, I can see adding LA Tech to the conference. It doesn't make sense to have 2 schools separated by only 30 minutes in the same conference, much less 3 schools in a conference the size of Louisiana

If we want to play in a conference with ECU, UCF and others with similar programs, the model is a stadium that sits 30K? That's poor long term planning, and short sighted. You build what we can afford today, tomorrow is not guaranteed..
I have been saying build to 30K with the option to flex to 40K.
