Jay is correct.
I made a push to add them last year for all of the reasons Jay mentioned.
Bottom line is adding them benefits the league and us. Sometimes you gotta swallow that pride to move forward.
If the Big12 goes through with this expansion, they will be a very large group of schools.
Starting to look like 3 Tiers.
1) SEC/Big10/ACC(for now)
2) Big12
3) Everybody else
Once, FSU, Clemson, Duke and UNC get picked up, the ACC remnants will either add the eastern Big12 schools or be gobbled up by the Big12 as well. Either way, that group would clearly be the 2nd Tier of 3.
At least ULM figured out how to "play nice" with the UL issue. Tech will never, and we don't need them underminding UL with the conference brethren. Besides the most significant moves Tech has made the past ten years athletically can be contributed to a tornado.
Tech and UL TOGETHER academically could do things...UNO and Southern are just classified as state wide univiersities for politics. But Tech won't admit they're in distant second academically out of the four state wide universities. Until Mr. Davison and his spawn come around, Tech is never to be trusted. He runs the show.
You want dillusional...go the the McNeese FB page. My goodness, it's a wonder the DEA hasn't infiltrated the site to figure out what they're smoking.
Let Tech rot thru this next cycle of changes and then, maybe, Texas State realizes the WAC or MWC is where they belong; backfill with Tech then. Until then, you know...
If our goals are still focused on moving conferences, why would we modify a stadium to fit in the SBC? We are raising money now to restructure an outdated stadium. There will be no money in the bank after this project is done, so we reduce seating now and if you have a chance to move up in a conference what then?
If we want to play in a conference with ECU, UCF and others with similar programs, the model is a stadium that sits 30K? That's poor long term planning, and short sighted. You build what we can afford today, tomorrow is not guaranteed..
What if we had Southern join the Sun Belt West, so that 40,000 people would show up to at least one game every year? Then we wouldn't have to complain about attendance as much! Yes I am joking, but It'd still be better than Louisiana Tech!
Many issues with Army and Navy, 1 they ain't joinin' the Belt. But moreover it makes no sense to take two more eastern teams one in Maryland and one in New York. It would screw up the East and West divisions, now you would have to move someone to the West and it would mess up your built in rivalries of Georgia State/Georgia Southern, App/Coastal, App/Georgia Southern, JMU/ODU, ETC. Plus I really don't think the at the end of the day any of the teams in the SBC want to travel to NY to play a game.
