F-Tech, wanting them in our conference is small-time and USLing it. We have the opportunity to crush them and put us out of our misery. I would rather donate money to ULM's athletic programs than have La Tech @ Ruston shoved up our ass!

Far Fetched thought for the SBC.......The ACC and the Big 12 could have a few schools left holding on trying to figure out their future. Just a thought, granted I doubt it would happen but think of this with the current SBC lineup (not adding La Tech or WKU or Middle). Take one of these 3 from the Big 12 for the West (Baylor/TCU or Texas Tech) and Wake Forest to the East from the ACC.
Wake would make tons of sense for Coastal and App, not to mention the Ga schools as well. If we could pull a coup like this in the SBC it would be amazing.
Granted if they get left holding the bag, I would assume they would find their way to the AAC or some other form of conference. It would make sense for these teams, but I think you will see them end up in either some F'd up conference of whomever is left in the P5 with teams all over the country, or they will end up in the AAC if they have to. My assumption is that the leftovers from the PAC, Big 12 and ACC could end up forming some sort of conference alignment, because I don't see the big dogs from the ACC (like Clemson, FSU, Miami, ETC), Big 12 (granted very little will be left) and PAC (granted very little will be left) staying in watered down conference and I don't see the leftovers dropping to the G5 conference level. But Wake and TCU would be sweet in the SBC.
Man, I started getting a feeling last summer when the SBC allowed 3 eastern teams in the conference. The SBC east is positioned to easily break away with to a small efficient footprint. I’m getting the same vibe this summer. This isn’t over.
This was in an article about possible SBC expansion (or not) that I thought was enlightening:
https://www.dnronline.com/sports/fur...f320e30f2.html
"CONFERENCE USA LEFTOVERS: Of the schools remaining in CUSA after last fall’s realignment, Western Kentucky and/or Middle Tennessee State might make sense on some level, but does either move the needle enough to make expansion worth it? Benson said Louisiana Tech was willing to pay to join the Sun Belt last fall and essentially was told to go kick rocks by Louisiana and Louisiana Monroe. Liberty fits geographically and is successful athletically, but it’s not clear JMU or ODU would push for another Virginia school and all that comes with the Flames off the field."
Just schedule out of conference H/H games with laTech. No need to invite them into SBC. Let them live with their new conference brethren for awhile, they're not going anywhere. If the SBC just really couldn't help expanding again, the conference is better off inviting WKY & MTU than laTech.
On a positive note, while football obviously drives conference realignment, getting
So. Miss baseball in SBC next season ratchets up the competition quite a bit. Maybe SBC baseball goes from 3 to 4 or 5 bid league. Most often conf. realignment is not fan friendly, but in this case its good!
From Crawfish’s article:
“ Tulane: Sun Belt headquarters are in New Orleans, but the conference currently has no team there. It’s getting repetitive, but essentially everything said about Memphis and ECU would also apply to the Green Wave. Tulane, though, is a private school while the Sun Belt is made up entirely of state schools with large, passionate fan bases. One of the most appealing aspects of the 14-team Sun Belt is the consistent culture of its members.”
I think Tulane administrative leadership would kill athletes (which some previous leadership already toyed with in the early 2000s) before being associated in an athletic conference with us and ULM.
OK, you guys have had your fun. Let me state my case:
1. I don't expect the Sun Belt to expand again, tho' it conceivably could happen. If you expand, you expand by two teams, one east and one west. There is no school other than Tech that benefits the Cajuns and the league as far as western expansion is concerned. Keep in mind, we're talking a few years down the road. Plenty of time for them to become more humble.
2. I'm not petty and I don't take it personally. Tech has some real butthole fans. Guess what? So do we. In fact, many of you are starting to sound like the guys on BB&B with your superiority issues. Don't take that personally. Just making an observation.
3. Louisiana Tech (on the field) adds value to the league. They would be competitive in the five major sports and would be in the top 25 percent in most of those. Iron sharpens iron.
4. The people in the La. Tech administration who were holier than thou are all gone. They've been replaced by much more reasonable people, from what I've been told. The name remains the same, the players have changed.
5. We need a rival. Our rival has been "flavor of the month" for about 20 years now. We (you) have rejected ULM as a rival. That's fine. But we need someone to hate. As Kevin Foote has said many times, sports hate is a good thing. You might be ready to bring up Southern Miss and time will tell. But South Alabama has more of a recent history with them and they are closer in geography. And for those of you who have suggested we have a rivalry, just not in conference, sorry. If they aren't in the league we don't play football every year...and even if they did, there's something about a conference rivalry that trumps everything.
6. It gives our fans a game they can travel to and vice versa. This league needs visiting teams to travel. It helps from a revenue standpoint among other things.
7. Who gives a ____ what they call us? I've always said from the day the name was changed, that state schools would never comply. Now, a couple have. ULM refers to us only as "ragin' cajuns." McNeese, Tech and LSU are NEVER going to call us Louisiana and like I said, who gives a rat's ___. You know who calls us Louisiana? The ones that matter.
(And, that "bow the knee" attitude didn't work very well for Daenerys Targaryen, did it.)
I don't like Tech. Not even a little bit. And, for me, that's even MORE reason to want them in the league.
So, you guys can rant and in at least one case, say I'm full of ____. But I think I'm right on this one. We need a rival and there's only one school in America right now that fits the bill.
I always said it would happen when Tech put their ego in their pocket. It's happening. Maybe we need to put our ego aside as well.
